Peru No. 10 is a single-origin, washed-process coffee from the JUMARP cooperative ("El Palto") in the Amazonian Andes of northern Peru, grown at 1,600 to 1,800 meters (5,250 to 5,900 feet) and roasted to order at a medium roast level.

  • Origin: Peru, Amazonian Andes (northern Peru). Asociacion de Productores Cafetaleros Juan Marco El Palto (JUMARP), founded in 2003 by 35 farmers and now 189 members, 40 of them women, farming roughly 550 hectares (1,360 acres).
  • Elevation: 1,600 to 1,800 meters (5,250 to 5,900 feet) above sea level
  • Process: Washed
  • Varietals: Typica, Castillo, Bourbon, Catimor
  • Roast level: Medium
  • Cupping notes: Caramel, raspberry, chocolate, walnut, and earthy. Smooth and full-bodied with a complex finish.

Farm Story

Situated in the northern Peruvian region of the Amazonian Andes, this cooperative was established in 2003 by a modest group of 35 farmers. Recognized as the Asociacion de Productores Cafetaleros Juan Marco El Palto (JUMARP), it is commonly referred to as "El Palto." Among its 189 members, 40 are women, contributing to the cultivation of approximately 550 hectares of organic and Fair Trade Certified coffee. Both male and female members are represented on the El Palto Cooperative Board of Directors, which is dedicated to enhancing specialty coffee production and profitability to uplift the income of each member's family.

I have been ordering from North Arrow coffee for over a year now. Their coffee is the best I've ever tasted, and their service is suburb. When I ordered the wrong item once by mistake, they offered to send me corrected order for half price (because the FDA does not allow return of food). The Peri 10 coffee was ok, but I would not buy it again. It has the same stale/old flavor as any random bag of coffee from a grocery store. I expected better. There are much better options, such as Counter Culture. That being said, I bought it to support Public Square companies and the pro-life cause.

Great coffee!

I have tried most of the coffees and the Peru is #3 for me right behind Expresso No. 7 and Honduras No. 4. Peru is full bodied and doesn’t have a after taste. Very good coffee.
