What the Bible Says About the Sanctity of Life
At North Arrow, our conviction is not a marketing angle. It is the reason the company exists. We believe every human life is created by God and worth protecting, and that belief comes straight from Scripture. Here is what the Bible actually says about the sanctity of life, and what it looks like to live it out.
What "sanctity of life" means
The sanctity of life is the belief that every human being carries inherent, God-given worth, not because of what they can do, but because of Whose image they bear. It applies from the womb to the last breath: the preborn child, the mother in crisis, the veteran, the stranger. Value is conferred by the Creator, not earned.
What Scripture says
"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb." (Psalm 139:13)
David describes God personally at work in the womb. Life there is not potential life. It is a person being formed by God's own hands.
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you." (Jeremiah 1:5)
God knew Jeremiah before birth. Identity and calling precede the delivery room.
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." (Genesis 1:27)
The image of God is the foundation of human dignity. Every person carries it.
"He himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else." (Acts 17:25)
Life is not self-made. It is received, moment by moment, from the Giver.
"I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." (John 10:10)
Jesus does not merely tolerate life. He came to fill it to overflowing.
"Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter." (Proverbs 24:11)
This is the verse that will not let us sit still. Scripture does not just declare life sacred. It commands us to act like it.
From conviction to action
Proverbs 24:11 is why North Arrow gives more than lip service. We give 15% of every sale to life-affirming organizations that protect the preborn, support mothers in crisis, and strengthen families. We keep our partner list short on purpose: fewer partners, deeper commitment, real relationships with the people doing the work.
A simple way to take a stand
You are going to drink coffee tomorrow morning anyway. When something that ordinary is done with conviction, it becomes a way to fund extraordinary work. That is the whole idea behind our Christian coffee and pro-life mission, and it is why we say coffee for life.
